My Approach

At the core of my practice is the belief that creativity has the potential to tap into our innermost thoughts and emotions. I view art therapy as a collaborative process, where I work alongside my clients to create a safe and supportive environment for exploration and self-expression. The end goal is for you to have the skills and amass the resources to manage anything that comes your way.

Through this unique therapeutic approach, individuals are encouraged to use various art mediums such as paint, clay, collage, items in nature or drawing to externalize their thoughts and emotions.

The creative process becomes a tool for self-discovery, facilitating personal growth, increasing self-awareness, and enhancing overall well-being.

The transpersonal approach deepens the experience by looking from the perspective outside of the personal experience. Mindfulness, meditation, focusing, and active imagination are tools that can be used to drop into the space.

How is Art used for Therapy?

Art becomes a tool for therapy through reflection and observation. Once we reflect and observe what we have created we will see what we want or need to see and change what we want or need to change. It's also our choice which path we take, no-one else's.

By working on it bit by bit we elicit change from within ourselves because we have created the art from our perception of ourselves and our life. The process is unique for each individual and can be as simple or as complex as you need it to be to assist in your healing journey.

Art therapy allows so much freedom of expression with or without words. There are so many experiences that we don't have words for, but feelings, senses, sounds, or movements that express them better than any words can.

The beauty of art is that it doesn't have to be formulated in a way that others understand. It's your expression in your way. A creation that speaks to you and can be chaotic, organised, or fragmented like a puzzle waiting to be put together to display the whole.

I know what it's like to navigate the journey on your own and I'd like to be someone to be with you through yours.
